My Best Life...April

I am a fan of  O Magazine, and every month, the editors interview a celebrity who answers questions on the best things in life in a feature called, My Best Life

This month, the editors interviewed Blake Lively, who is starring in the new film, The Age of Adeline, about a woman who stays 29 for about 80 years.

Here is how I answered the same questions.

Best collection...
My best collection is my Christmas ornament collection. But a close runner up is our refrigerator magnet collection. My husband likes magnets as souvenirs because it reminds him of where we've been and they don't take up much space, except on the fridge.

Best way to spend a day off...
If I had a free day, all to myself, I would wake up with the sun. I would do some work in the morning...blogging, reading, and checking in with my wellness groups and fitness challengers. Then, I would press play on a workout or go workout with my trainer. I would meet up with a friend for lunch and maybe do a bit of window shopping or see an early afternoon matinee. I would prep for and then have dinner with my husband and then we would go for a walk. I might climb into bed with a book or a magazine, watch a little tv, snuggle down for the night, and call it a day.

If my husband also had the day off, we would get up early and venture out to the city or to explore a town where we have never been. Date night all day.

Best stress reliever...
So many things...
A warm hug, a walk outside, a good workout, or a hearty belly laugh.

Best part about growing up in....
In Massachusetts, the best part of growing up is having access to any place you want to go. Because Massachusetts is small, it's within an hour's drive, or so (at least from Central Mass) to the beach or the mountains, the city or the country. You're also within an hour's drive of the other New England states and about five hours from Montreal, eight hours from Toronto, six hours from Philadelphia and about three and a half hours to Manhattan. Massachusetts has great universities, Tom Brady, and an unmatched sports dynasty. Boston proper is such a young, vibrant, walkable city with so much to see and do. Massachusetts has it all, except warm winters.

Best quick recipe...
Avocado toast. Mash one half ripe avocado onto a piece of thick, multi-grain toast. Sprinkle with sea salt.

Ahora 8: January and an announcement

Is it still okay to say Happy New Year? Happy New Year anyway!

Announcing...
  • I have joined the Beach Body family as a new coach and I couldn't be more excited. As someone who is continually working on my own health, fitness and wellness, I am thrilled for the opportunity to share my journey with others and help them along their journey. Through monthly challenges and personal coaching, I will try to inspire others to achieve their own personal bests.
  • If you have ever thought about a similar path and are interested in becoming a coach yourself, or, if you just want someone to walk the walk with you, get in touch with me at krod0519@gmail.com or connect with me through my coaching page and find out more about coaching and the benefits of helping others achieve more. I would love to build my team and give you the opportunity to build yours as well.

Reading...
  • Since I am embarking on new adventures, I am working on some professional development, starting with The Compound Effect, by Darren Hardy.

  • In the introduction, life coach, Anthony Robbins, cites his mentor, Jim Rohn, "If you want greater success, help others achieve more." It's true...it's all about community and lifting up others.

Figuring out...
  • My FitBit
  • My Beach Body website
  • My upcoming pieces for this space here
  • How to migrate over to WordPress seamlessly
  • When I will get my media kit completed

Drinking...
  • Water...one of my goals is to get in 100 oz. of water every day. Some days I fall short, but overall, I'm drinking more water and that does my body good...especially in these dry, winter months.

Eating...
  • Trying to eat cleaner, less processed food. Trying to eat my protein first. I'm not cutting anything out, but trying to eat less junk. One day at a time.

Smiling about
  • New opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Working with my trainer again after a brief hiatus.
  • Seeing the progress my students have made as we give them their annual assessment.
  • Teaching my blogging class, which was picked up for the spring at the local continuing ed program.
  • A French macaron making class I am taking this spring. C'est magnifique!
  • My husband's push outside his own comfort zone and the opportunities he is creating for himself.
  • My Patriots are going to Super Bowl XLIX! Go Pats!

Well, that's about it.

What's happening ahora in your world?

My best life...November

Another great feature in O Magazine every month is My Best Life, when the editors question a celebrity on some of the best things in their life.

This month, the editors interviewed Amy Poehler, fresh off the launch of her first book, Yes, Please

Here is how I answered the same questions.

Best collection...
My best collection is my Christmas ornament collection. Our tree becomes a representation of the places we have been, who we are, and what we love. It's fun to pick out ornaments and it's fun to put them on the tree and recognize the lovely life that we have.

Just a sample of our many ornaments.

Best indulgence...
Travel. I will never be sorry for the places I have seen. Perhaps it is an indulgence; but for me, it feeds by heart and soul.

Best hobby...
Writing and photography.
Regardless of the domain, writing and photography have become treasured hobbies that allow me to experiment, reflect, and share pieces of me.

Best escape...
The beach. It makes me happy.

Or a walk in the woods. Another happy place. I guess I'm more of an "outdoor girl" than I once thought.

Best mistake
Trusting. I always try to assume positive intent, and occasionally that leaves me disappointed. But, I prefer my rose-colored glasses; my bubble is a warm and happy place. The jaded life is not for me.
