- Back to school means new starts...more chances to change your life for the better.
- Here in New England, the most glorious colors emerge on our trees, signaling the pilgrimage of "peepers" onto the Massachusetts Route 2 corridor and throughout much of the northeast.
- The weather is divine. The beginning of the month is still warm. And by the end of the month, it's time for long sleeves, tall boots and all things pumpkin.
What I'm reading...
- The Selection by Kiera Cass: My niece and I are reading the same book and FaceTiming a "book club" night. This book was described to me as Divergent meets The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor. So far, so good.
- How to Eat a Small Country: A Family's Pursuit of Happiness, One Meal at a Time by Amy Finley. This is a fun read about the winner of season three of The Next Food Network Star who left her budding stardom behind in order to reconnect with her husband and children through cooking and eating in rural France.
And my favorite blogs this month:
- A Beautiful Mess...If you're looking for DIY inspiration, check out sisters, Elsie and Emma's blog, A Beautiful Mess, for ideas, books, apps and e-courses.
- So Many Places...Join Kim and Brian, a couple who sold everything to create the life of their dreams and travel the world. Check out their how-to guides and inspiring stories that may help you make your own dreams a reality.
- The Heart of a Flower...Grace Courtney describes herself as "a Connecticut girl who loves to write, take pictures, immerse herself in the world around her." Visit her tiny nook in the world and see the world through her eyes.
What I'm watching
- Youtube videos on all things elementary ESL and literacy, from running records to The Daily 5 and The Cafe.
What I'm eating
- The laughter and banter of young children...love it!
- My play lists as I get back into a regular outdoor walking (and maybe jogging) routine.
Making my heart smile
- My kiddos. I was offered a new teaching position in a nearby district. I resigned my middle school English position to teach elementary ESL (English as a Second Language) and I was given kindergarten and second grade students. My heart is full.
My goals for LAST month
- Write my lesson plans for the first couple of weeks at school. DONE
- Unpack and set up my new classroom. DONE...well, more or less.
- Register for two more grad classes to get to Masters plus fifteen credits and a salary lane change. Not yet...still working on transitioning from middle school to early elementary.
- Publish consistently throughout September and beyond. Still working on an editorial calendar.
My goals for this month
- Buy a pretty new notebook and calendar.
- Finish up some posts on my summer in Spain.
- Get back on my regular training schedule.
Your turn...what is happening in your world these days?
Such great things happening for you. I am really looking forward to Fall. It is my favorite season and you can't beat it in New England!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Kerry! All good things. Fall and spring are my favorites...looking forward to the cooler weather, for sure. Happy Sunday!
DeleteKelly, the energy you possess to do all of these things... So happy you are enjoying your new ESL position and best of luck. Very much looking forward to your stories on your vacation in Spain this summer! How to eat a small country... book looks great, I'll have to check it out. Best of luck on your classes on blogging, looks like fun and as always, I'm sure you will make it inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Peggy. All good things. I love my new teaching position. My kiddos are so precious...they crawl right into my heart. I hope all is well with you in your corner of the world.
DeleteCongrats on the new classes and Adult ed classes! Sounds like you returned from your trip on a high note, skipping over the period of (flat out) hating it that you are back :)
ReplyDeleteFor 546, one of the biggest reasons I started blogging was because it's sometimes difficult to find someone who you can relate with in a specific area, and I knew that I could possible be that for someone else. And while it's good to find a niche, don't limit yourself to only that topic. Readers will want to know who is running that shop, travelling the globe, or suffering an illness. The blog might be your outlet, but you are a person outside of your niche.

Thank you, Farin. :-) That's a great tip. You never know what will connect. It's important to be yourself. Happy Sunday!
DeleteSeptember is one of my favorite months too! It's MFD's birthday and our anniversary, and the weather is usually on point! It's starting out quite hot down here in Philly but I'm sure it'll be grand in the end.
ReplyDeleteLots of exciting stuff for you this September Kelly! I hope the new job is going well.
Happy Anniversary Month! :-) I love your Adventure challenge! I'm trying to figure out how to make it work for me...if I don't make this month, next month for sure.
DeleteI just earned my MA in August. It's a journey and so fulfilling. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Getting my M.Ed. while working full time was a lot of work, but so worth it. Thank you for stopping by!
