Ahora 2: July

Happy July!

I love seeing what others are up to every month and the items that cross their radar. Naturally, I thought it would be fun to do my own.

Ahora, meaning Now in Spanish, is a monthly series that gives you the highlights of what's going on in my life each month.

July is a great month.
  • Summer is here.
  • There is less traffic as people enjoy much deserved vacation time.
  • Happy Birthday, USA!

What I'm reading...
And my favorite blogs this month:

What I'm watching

  • World Cup

  • Jaws...a local theatre is bring it back to the big screen this month. Best summer movie ever!

What I'm eating
  • All things grilled...tis the season.
  • Ice cream!
  • And cherries...stone fruit season is upon us. And a splendid season it is.

What I'm drinking
  • Sangria. All summer. Need a recipe? Here's one for a red

What I'm wearing
  • Maxi dresses. Comfortable and practical.

What I'm doing
  • Traveling! We leave for Spain later this month. I'm ready to return to my home away from home and see this sunset every night.

  • Finishing grad classes. In an effort to amass post-Masters level credits (and an eventual lane change for a salary increase), I am taking two online grad classes this semester. One is almost done and one needs to be started. Both must be finished before I leave on vacation. It's on.
At least my home office has a view.

What I'm listening to
  • World Cup announcers...GOOOOOOAAAAALLL!
  • The Boston Pops Orchestra play the 1812 Overture at the 4th of July extravaganza on the Esplanade.
  • And fireworks! Happy 4th of July!

Making my heart smile
  • The U.S. Men's National Team's performance at World Cup. Tim Howard is keeper...ever.
My goals for LAST month
  • Write, write, write...with the end of school and life craziness, I came up empty on this one. Here's to summer and more time to write.
  • Use sunscreen. I tan easily, but a tan is not worth skin cancer. Better, but not 100%. No excuses this month.
  • Get outside. Better. Does sipping wine and doing homework by the pool count?

My goals for this month
  • Write a media kit and order my business cards.
  • Create a fall editorial calendar.
  • Finish my online grad class....this NEEDS to be done before we leave for Spain in a couple of weeks.

And there you have it...what is happening Ahora in my world.

Your turn...what is happening in your world these days?

  1. I adore maxi dresses! what kind of graduate program are you in?

    1. Hi Lisa, I finished my Masters in Education and English, but I am taking online courses for a lane change (and salary increase). I should be at M+15 credits by the end of the fall semester. Maxi dresses are the best...good for dressing up or staying casual.

  2. I wear maxi dresses like everyday!! So comfortable and pretty too. I really wish my office had a poolside view!!

    1. I agree, Kerry...they're perfect for work and to go out. Easy to dress up or stay casual. Your office may not have a poolside view, but I bet it's air conditioned, which is more than I can say for our house. :-) Only the bedroom has AC. Have a wonderful 4th.

  3. I've never found a maxi that suits me well. I own one but it's not my best look!

How exciting, Spain is upon you!

Stone fruit season is my favorite.

    1. It depends on the cut for me...sometimes they make me look even hippier than my pear-shaped body already it. :-/ But sometimes I find one that works for seasons on end. Have a wonderful 4th. :-)

  4. I'm glad I found this blog. July is great! Looks like you're enjoying it well. And I adore maxi dresses and wine!

    1. Welcome, Grace Courtney! :-) I found your blog today as well, and I'm thrilled. You write beautifully. I look forward to exploring your blog and following your journey.

  5. Omg! Have fun in Spain Kelly. I saw that ice cream on your instagram and it looks so good.

  6. What a busy month you will be having.. and have so much fun in Spain. My world is going to be busy this month with a new part in my job... a new learning curve with this job and also we are changing our computer system. Family is coming to visit and I hope to get more crafts and reviews done for the month.. and continue my exercising and lose weight program.

    1. Hi Marlys,
Thank you so much. You have a busy month ahead as well. :-)
Good luck with the transition in your job, and have a wonderful visit with your family.
Enjoy your craft time and have fun with your reviews.
And the best of luck with your wellness plan.
      Happy July! :-)

  7. Thanks for including me on your list of favorite blogs this month! Have fun in Spain!

    1. You're welcome. :-) I really enjoy your blog.
Thank you...we always have a great time...always so much to see and do.
      Happy July!
