The Alchemist: 5 Resonating Lessons

With more than 65 million copies sold worldwide in more than 50 languages, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, is a keeper. Because of my interest in lifestyle design, it seemed like a natural fit, and it did not disappoint.

The lessons were clear. All of us have the potential of Santiago, the simple shepherd, to follow our dreams.

You are not a victim of circumstance. You can decide how you live this one amazing life. Do not surrender your power to fate. You may not control everything that happens to you, but you can control your reaction.

Don't give up. Ever.

Love...pass it on.

Never stop dreaming. Dream big. You're worth it.

And look around...this life is pretty amazing. Count your blessings.

Have you read The Alchemist? Share your favorite lesson or quote.

What was the most motivational book you ever read?

  2. Nice. He really does have some great quotes! I can't believe I haven't read The Alchemist yet. I used to read a lot of SARK; she's pretty inspirational. Also I'm inspired by any type of female travel memoir.

  3. I read it last year and thought it was pretty great too! One of my favorite quotes from the book was something like 'when you want something all the Universe conspires in helping you to achieve it' !

  7. Hi Kelly! I loved the Alchemist and have read nearly all of Paulo Coelho's books. I love all your photo quotes but my favorite of all of his is: "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." He's not the only one who said it but it is something I don't think I or anyone can hear enough. ~Kathy

  12. I'm liking his views and the encouraging words. Also, "in lifestyle design, Tit seemed like a natural fit" I'm not sure about the boob reference here.. ;)

  13. Hi Kelly, I've never read the Alchemist though it does look great with your overview. There are so many inspirational books, and though having read many, it seems that each unique book provides from small to gigantic gems for the moment, for one's life experience at a future time, or even those times past. Thanks for sharing.

  14. Hi Peggy. I think that there is a book that speaks to every person. It's finding the "soundbite" that works for you. It reminds me a bit of the Celestine Prophecy, from years ago...follow your path and seek your treasure. It's a good read.
