My best life...November

Another great feature in O Magazine every month is My Best Life, when the editors question a celebrity on some of the best things in their life.

This month, the editors interviewed Amy Poehler, fresh off the launch of her first book, Yes, Please

Here is how I answered the same questions.

Best collection...
My best collection is my Christmas ornament collection. Our tree becomes a representation of the places we have been, who we are, and what we love. It's fun to pick out ornaments and it's fun to put them on the tree and recognize the lovely life that we have.

Just a sample of our many ornaments.

Best indulgence...
Travel. I will never be sorry for the places I have seen. Perhaps it is an indulgence; but for me, it feeds by heart and soul.

Best hobby...
Writing and photography.
Regardless of the domain, writing and photography have become treasured hobbies that allow me to experiment, reflect, and share pieces of me.

Best escape...
The beach. It makes me happy.

Or a walk in the woods. Another happy place. I guess I'm more of an "outdoor girl" than I once thought.

Best mistake
Trusting. I always try to assume positive intent, and occasionally that leaves me disappointed. But, I prefer my rose-colored glasses; my bubble is a warm and happy place. The jaded life is not for me.

How would you answer the same questions?

  2. Great post! Here is how I would answer some of those questions. Best collection: My dishes, they give me a smile everytime I play with different sets on a table for my family. Best escape: When I lived in Florida it was definitely the beach. There is definitely something about the sand and smells that is so calming. Living here in yankee territory now my best escape is my front porch during warmer seasons.

  7. I love Amy Poehler! I actually really want to get my hands on that book.
I've had some silly collections over the years, especially as a kid. I used to have quite the troll doll collection! Haha. However now that I'm an adult I don't think I've collected anything recently! Hmmm time to pick something up :)

    1. I am going to read Amy Poehler's book as well. Troll dolls...what a blast from the past. I used to spin them in my hands to make their hair stand on end. Silly, but fun for a kid. Thank you for stopping by.

  8. I love your Christmas ornament collection! My best collection is my postcard collection. I get postcards from places I've visited and put them in a photo album, but I also hold onto postcards that my friends have sent me. One friend in particular started sending me post cards when she was an exchange student in India, now she's lived in many different countries and she wrote to me about each place on the card and what she experienced there. It's very special.

  11. Best hour: Making dinner for my husband and me. Cat in his basket watching me, classical music, glass of wine, sun going down, fire on, book to the side. A little party for the senses.

  16. Travel is definitely my indulgence as well! But I think it is worth it for the experiences. I am so jealous of your ornament collection, I have just moved in with my boyfriend and we have just bought our first tree! So time to start the collection I think :) x
