Ahora 5...October

Happy Fall and happy October!

Ahora, meaning Now in Spanish, is a monthly series that gives you
the highlights of what's going on in my life each month. See where it started with this post

Tis the season for chunky sweaters, tall boots, apple cider and all things pumpkin.

Here is what's trending in my world this month.

What I'm reading...
  • My Life in France by Julia Child

I grew up on Julia Child and Jacque Pépin. I remember watching her, and later, them together, on PBS and thinking how great it was that she was so human and yet, she still had her own cooking show. I am loving her stories of those early years in France with Paul.

What I'm watching

  • Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. This show, hands down, is a new favorite. He is irreverent, and as they say in My Cousin Vinny, "dead-on-balls-accurate." He is so keenly aware of the issues that you cannot help but nod in agreement as you wipe the tears away while you double over in laughter. If you don't have HBO, search for clips on YouTube...it's worth it.
  • Scandal. Love it. That is all.

What I'm eating
Like many people, I am getting my gourd on. I am putting pumpkin in my oatmeal and in my pancakes. And this amazing pumpkin butter on my English muffins.

I am roasting squashes and root veggies. And I am eating lots of soup. Fall is a season of comfort food for me, and I couldn't be happier.

What I'm drinking
  • Hot apple cider...sorry...no PSL for me.
What I'm wearing
  • Tall boots and over-sized sweaters. This is why we have Fall.

What I'm trying

  • Stitch Fix. If you don't know what Stitch Fix is, it is a subscription box for clothes. A stylist picks pieces for you based on your own person profile. You return what you don't want and take $20 off what you decide to keep. I am so fashion challenged that this seemed like a good experiment. My box is coming mid month. Stay tuned.

My goals for this month
  • Write an outline for a big project I've been mulling around in my head.
  • Walk at least 5 miles per week.
  • Try one new soup recipe.

And there you have it...what is trending Ahora in my world.

Your turn...what is happening in your world these days?

  1. Pretty colors Kelly! My husband loves soup. My son and I are both like, "Soup for dinner? Not food?" :-) Plus it's still in the high 80s here. But...I'm trying to start thinking about fall!

    1. Thank you, Jill. I LOVE soup...to me it's a meal...especially with a piece of rusty artisan bread. Perfect! Enjoy the warm weather. I will be jealous by January. :-) Thank you so much for stopping by.
