Do your movies reflect your childhood? Your interests? Movies that touched your heart and soul? Movies that made you laugh? What made the cut?
Here's mine, in no particular order.
1. Jaws
Whether it's one-liners that make me laugh or the edge-of-my-seat intensity of Quint's (true) story of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, Jaws is a must-see.
2. Life is Beautiful
I love, love, love this movie. It makes me laugh and cry. If you haven't seen this film, add it to your queue...and watch it in Italian with the subtitles. It really is a beautiful film and one you will never forget.
3. The Way We Were
Ka-ka-ka-Katie! You can't help but get pulled into this classic love story of opposites who attract, Katie and Hubbell. Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford at their finest.
4. Sex and the City
Like any Sex and the City fan, I waited patiently for my ladies to make it to the big screen...and they did not disappoint...at least in the first movie.
5. Before Sunset
This one is the second installment of the Ethan Hawke/Julie Delpy trilogy about a Jesse and Celine, strangers who met on a train to Vienna in the first film, nine years earlier. What I like most about this is the fact that it's a film of conversation. It's smart. It's real. It's honest. And it's set in Paris...it feeds the wanderlust.
So those are mine. What are your favorites?
Kinda love this idea. Although it's hard to choose from just 5! Thanks for sharing. My husband would totally agree with Jaws.
ReplyDeleteJaws is classic...fear of the unknown...you're terrified before you even see the shark. Love it! Thanks for stopping by, Amy!
DeleteDirty Dancing would of course make the list. I think The Breakfast Club and 16 Candles too. Bridget Jone's Diary and Legally Blonde...it's hard to stop at five.
ReplyDeleteDirty Dancing! Love it! My Nana used to LOVE that...truth be told, I think she had a crush on Patrick Swayze...who could blame her? You're right...there really could be ten...or more. :-)
DeleteThanks for the shout out! I love that you have some classics in your list. I haven't seen most of these - I'll hafta check 'em out.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great idea! :-)
DeleteBefore Sunset is a good one. So hard to choose just five though Elf, P.S I love you, the family stone, without limits and In God's hands immediately popped into my head.
ReplyDeleteI loved Elf too. The Family Stone was dark, but good. I haven't seen the others. I need a good rainy weekend. :-)
DeleteI agree with the films you mentioned, except for Before Sunset which I haven't seen. But I saw the sequel, Before Midnight and loved it. It's also a great conversation movie and this one is set in Greece, one of my favorite places on earth. Also, I'd add, "Love, Actually." Great Christmas movie and I could watch it over and over!
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved Love Actually! My list may need a sequel! Thank you for stopping by, Mary Jane! :-)
DeleteI have to agree about SATC....the 2nd one however broke my heart. either way, loved reading your top 5 movies! happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI agree...the second SATC was just awful. Happy weekend to you! And thank you so much for stopping by! :-)
DeleteNeat Post. Kelly, I still had to chuckle though when I saw Jaws on your list!
ReplyDeleteJaws is classic, Peggy...fear of the unknown...you're terrified before you even see the shark. Love it!
