Tune in. Tune Up.

I am a longtime subscriber of O Magazine, and I love reading the contributors' questionnaire at the beginning of every issue, which relates to the monthly theme.

Last month, the theme was on aging. You can read my thoughts on that in this post here

This month, the theme is upgrading your life. Here is how I answered the Contributors' questionnaire.

I recently upgraded...
We recently upgraded our mattress to a memory foam mattress. Life is grand.
And, through special savings and a birthday gift, I recently upgraded my technology. I converted everything to Apple and have loved everything about it. It's intuitive and very user friendly...so far, well worth the investment.

But I'll never change...
I will never change my commitment to quiet time. Recently, I was asked about how I make time for myself and my own needsI enjoy my quiet, alone time. If my husband is watching soccer or the news, I may go upstairs and read, or catch up on my Netflix favorites. I retreat to recharge and I emerge rejuvenated.

When I need an attitude upgrade, I ...
Whenever I need an attitude upgrade, I head for the beach. There is a restorative quality to the sea that is unmatched in any other locale. For me, it's sea-therapy.

I was inspired to improve my...
I was inspired to improve my strength. As a woman, I know the importance of strength for long-term bone health, and so I made the investment this spring to personal training, with a focus on strength. I am continually pleased by the results. There is not much change, if anything, in the number on the scale, but I am stronger, in body and in mind. I have more confidence to accomplish gym feats that before I never would have attempted. It's been a wonderful upgrade.

How would you answer these same questions? Please share and inspire me.

  1. I feel the same way about the ocean. I could use some sea-therapy right now!

    1. It's magic...I don't know how or why, but it works...all the time. I can't imagine living anywhere without access to the ocean. Maybe it's because I'm from New England, but it's certainly true for me. I hope you can get some sea-therapy soon. :-)

  2. I think we are very similar. I always need my quiet time, whether it is just reading in the morning or before bed or one day a week just being alone to recharge. The beach or the outdoors (hiking) always gives me a boost in mood. It is my happy place. I am always working on being healthier especially after vacation splurges! Haha!

    1. Recharging is the best way to put it, because I, and it sounds like you too, are able to re-emerge after that quiet time feeling rejuvenated. And you're so right about the outside being a happy place. I feel the same way.

  3. What a neat idea! (I don;t think I've read O magazine for years....) We're almost all apple at home and love it - I'm thinking about adding an ipad soon!

  4. I have recently upgraded all of my bags. Quality throughout now!

But I'll never change my commitment to self-care (and that includes alone time!).

When I need an attitude adjustment, I put myself in a time out - deep breaths, clear head, big glass of water, quick and dirty gratitude list.

I was inspired to improve my face care routine - 37, not getting any younger! Age spots are here. I need to take a page from your book and get some strength training going on!

  5. The full apple upgrade! Once I got my macbook pro, it was a bit difficult figuring everything out. Now that I have I think it's a lot more efficient. I can't go back either. I feel the exact same way when I lived near the ocean, the beach is where I go just let it all go. I love your idea of having quiet time. I know with school starting soon I am going to need some of that.
