Be that girl...part two

In February, I posted my first Be that girl  as a call to action...a way to inspire myself and others to be the girls and the women we truly wanted to be. I am so grateful for the tremendous response to that post, and I wanted to continue the charge.

And so...Be that girl....part two.

Be that girl who

  • has a secret wish,
  • who makes a secret list,
  • to make her dream come true.

Be that girl who
  • smiles because she's kind
  • at those who might not be,
  • but because she is kind.

Be that girl who
  • can dance in a crowded room, unafraid of what others think
  • can chat it up with someone new, because she's found her voice
  • can be at peace alone, and not feel incomplete.
Do yourself a favor and watch this video...How to be Alone

Be that girl who
  • Knows who her friends are
  • Holds them tight in heart, even if not in miles.
  • Does not let "busyness" stand in the way of her friendship or pride in the way of I'm sorry...I was wrong...how can I make this right?

Be that girl who
  • Can say no, without guilt
  • Can say yes, without angst
  • Can say help, when she's in over her head.

Be that girl who
  • Who has hope
  • Who brings light and peace to those in crisis.
  • Who understands the difference between a bad day and a bad life.

Be that girl who
  • spends within her means
  • who sees that art is all around
  • who begins and ends each day in gratitude

Be that girl
  • who collects memories, not things,
  • who creates a life she loves
  • who tries to be present and enjoy the moments she's in.

What would you add? Inspire me.

  1. I like the list! Maybe add something about being body confident? About being feminine (I'm pretty traditional)? Also, why have the wish be secret?? :)

    1. Thank you! I love that...everyone should feel comfortable in her own skin. The wish was a secret dream that maybe had been long held that we could really could accomplish. It need not be secret though. :-)

  2. I am not sure I would add anything. I think it is amazing, and so empowering. I think every woman should follow it.

  9. This is one of the best and most important things I've learned in my life:
    Be that girl who
    Can say no, without guilt
    Can say yes, without angst
Can say help, when she's in over her head.

    1. It's such an important lesson. So many women I know struggle with this...it's become a signature trait and it needs to stop. Life is too short for angst and guilt. Happy Monday! Have a great week!

  10. I want to be that girl too. I have a long way to go, but all of those things are such great traits. I really like the quote: Stop the glorification of busy. We must stop that. It is getting worse and worse and leading to a lot of stress! Thank you. Beautiful post!

    1. Thank you, Elizabeth. We are all works in progress and sometimes, it's one step forward and two steps back. As far as busy goes, so many people find value in how busy they are...like a testament to their importance in the world. I wish people would understand that they are important, regardless of their to-do list. Maybe someday they will. Thank you, again. :-)
